Shooting for
the best production value? We'd like to suggest the following
video and television production books to ensure that your production
is of the highest quality video possible for you and for FILMLOOK. The American Cinematographer Video Manual published by ASC Press is a comprehensive guide to video and television production. This is an excellent book that contains useful guidelines for recording and lighting video, an overview of the history and future of video and technical essays on video production. Whether you are a novice or an experienced veteran, this hand-book is an extremely valuable resource for shooting high quality video. Of particular interest for productions using FILMLOOK is the article "Lighting for Film versus Video", originally published in the American Cinematographer magazine. Amazingly enough, the American Cinematographer Manual, the film counterpart to the video manual, is still useful for video and television production. This is possible since most of the tools, disciplines and techniques once used exclusively for film can now be used for video and FILMLOOK processing. The manual provides advice on the use of various types of lighting instruments, a broad overview of a wide array of filters and even offers charts outlining necessary panning rates utilized when shooting video for FILMLOOK. If your interest is in low-budget feature production, we suggest Feature Filmmaking at Used Car Prices (revised edition) by Rick Schmidt. From initial idea to final distribution, Schmidt enthusiastically details tips and essentials for producing features on a less than stellar budget, including video production using FILMLOOK. FILMLOOK Inc. engages in continual research for methods to make your production work most advantageously with our process. As a progressive, forward-reaching company, we gladly welcome any ideas, tips or methodologies for shooting video more successfully. If there is a particular book or technique useful for shooting video with FILMLOOK, we'd like to share the information with others in our future newsletters. |
