FILMLOOK Inc. started as a vision of excellence by partners Robert Faber and Anna Cordova . Mr. Faber's electronic engineering expertise and intense interest in filmmaking coupled with Ms. Cordova's managerial experience made FILMLOOK Inc. a reality. In a short time, FILMLOOK® made an indelible impression upon the entertainment industry. In 1986, Robert Faber began researching the differences between the qualities of telecined film and ordinary video. He found that there were three main film aspects to isolate and reproduce for video: motion characteristics, gray scale/contrast and grain pattern. He then started on the actual design for the FILMLOOK process and built the prototype in the fall of 1988. The FILMLOOK process was unveiled to the entertainment industry at an open house presentation held at the Sheraton Universal Hotel (formerly the Registry Hotel) in Universal City in January 1989. |

The basic idea of the FILMLOOK process was (and still is) to give standard video-shot productions the look of film origination. FILMLOOK is a patented, award-winning, real time post-production process that requires no lab processing, no dailies and no telecine transfers. Basically, FILMLOOK is a money and time saving alternative to shooting on film. Several television shows have used FILMLOOK, including SportsCentury (ESPN Classic), Making the Band (ABC), Secret Adventures of Jules Verne (SciFi), Undressed (MTV), It'a a Miracle (PAX). FILMLOOK was also used on an HBO special, Living Dolls, produced by Lynda Otto with The Landsburg Company. Living Dolls has been nominated for three Emmys. FILMLOOK Inc. has grown every year since 1989 and is now a thriving Post Production business. The FILMLOOK process is only one part of FILMLOOK's (also known as FILMLOOK MEDIA and POST) services as we now provide Da Vinci 2K color correction (with FILMLOOK® gray scale available), AVID and FINAL CUT PRO editing, DVD authoring, Digital Cinema packaging, a full audio post and design facility, and more. We've also patent licensed (24P camera patent, 24P, LLC) eight major camera manufactirers. Mr. Faber handles most of the technical duties, while Ms. Cordova
is involved with client relations and marketing. They both cite
the award from the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences for
outstanding achievement in engineering development as a prime
example of FILMLOOK's success and acceptance into the television
entertainment industry. |

It is not often that such an innovative idea completely changes the face of an entire industry. The inventor of FILMLOOK, Robert Faber, designed a process that can only be called "ingenious." Mr. Faber was born with an entrepreneur's spirit and was raised in Boston, Massachusetts. He holds a degree in Electronic Engineering and has worked in numerous electronics, technical and engineering capacities throughout the past 30 years, including several top corporations such as Lockheed Corporation, Spacelabs, Inc., Loral EOS, Ocean Technology, Inc. and Instrumentation Laboratory, Inc. A keen interest in filmmaking brought Mr. Faber to Los Angeles where he immediately embarked on a career in the production of industrial films and commercials. As a video producer, he was constantly approached by clients asking him if he had any film clips on his demo tape. It was during these situations that he began to realize the revered stature of film over video in the entertainment industry. Combining his fascination with filmmaking and his engineering background, Mr. Faber began research and development on a process that would ultimately result in the creation of FILMLOOK. In 1986, Mr. Faber began paying particular attention to the qualities of telecined film that differentiate it from ordinary video. The concept of isolating those elements, then designing a process that would make the film simulation process available to video producers everywhere, became an important goal for the filmmaker-engineer. Mr. Faber started on the actual design for FILMLOOK in late 1987, and began building the prototype in the spring of 1988. With the help of his partner, Anna Cordova, and their friends, the FILMLOOK process was unveiled to the entertainment industry at an open house presentation held at the Sheraton Universal Hotel (formerly the Registry Hotel) in Universal City in January 1989. The response was overwhelmingly favorable and FILMLOOK was on its way. FILMLOOK has been the perfect outlet for Mr. Faber's natural tendency for invention. As a former flight instructor, Mr. Faber literally "takes off" with his innovative ideas and flies his single engine plane everywhere from sales meetings in FILMLOOK's Canadian office to his native Boston. As a past marathon competitor, he tries to run as often as his hectic schedule permits. Ms. Cordova describes him as not only a captivating inventor, but "a man with a great sense of humor." Robert Faber currently resides in the San Fernando Valley
in Southern California. |

Anna Cordova was born and raised in the Southern California area and holds a business degree from California State Polytechnic, Pomona and graduated cum laude in manufacturing from the Fashion Institute of Design and Manufacturing (FIDM). Before starting FILMLOOK Inc., Ms. Cordova worked at Loral EOS in Pasadena as an executive secretary to a program manager. While at Loral, she sharpened her communication skills that would later make her an indispensable part of FILMLOOK Inc. As a liaison between engineers, managers, vendors and clients, Ms. Cordova learned the value of cooperation and customer satisfaction. Ms. Cordova became involved in the film industry when she met Robert Faber, her current business partner. She would later join him on production shoots where she saw firsthand the arrogant attitude of film professionals toward the medium of video. The experience would leave an indelible impression upon both her and Mr. Faber. Since Ms. Cordova and Mr. Faber originated from a different background than typical "Hollywood" filmmakers, their concept of making video look like film was not readily accepted. This stubborn viewpoint created a challenge to FILMLOOK and one that they would eventually overcome with flying colors. Ms. Cordova provided emotional support and the foresight to see the grand scheme of what FILMLOOK Inc. was to become. She was responsible for FILMLOOK's administrative work, customer relations and accounting services. She also developed an intensive marketing strategy which was an integral element of FILMLOOK's progress. Ms. Cordova promotes FILMLOOK with a fervor that focuses on customer satisfaction. She designed "customer report cards" that give the company constant inspiration on how to grow. Ms. Cordovas also developed FILMLOOK's quarterly newsletter and directs mail campaigns to keep their customers, both old and new, informed. Currently, Ms. Cordova manages client relations, marketing and sales at FILMLOOK Inc. By combining her management expertise and her desire to learn from her clients, Ms. Cordova has become a dedicated and integral member of the team at FILMLOOK Inc. Anna Cordova lives on a mini-ranch with two lambs. She enjoys gardening, horseback riding, reading, writing poetry and designing clothes. HOME |
